The Early Years

When I hired Anthony J.W. Benson, Creative Director and Owner of injoi Creative, to help me design a logo, I never expected him to assign me homework! Anthony explained his process and methodology for developing a suitable logo for me. The method to his madness. He presented me with numerous questions, including who or what inspired me and why. What brings me joy and inspiration? What colors reflect my personality or belief system or both? 

I took some time to reflect deeply on those questions and many more. I wanted my logo to reflect me best, as I was going to share it with the world.

Inspiration 

Years ago, when my daughter was attending Magnolia Elementary School in Carlsbad, California, her class was involved in a silent auction to raise money for the school. Her class created a giant paper mache hummingbird. When I saw it, I knew that I had to have it. It was magical! That little hummingbird became the heart of my logo, symbolizing grace, resilience, and joy. Plus, they are one of my favorite birds.

The Love for Purple

I have adored the color purple ever since I was a child. Purple for my clothes, shoes, hair ornaments, bedding, purple everything! It has always been my favorite color. Purple is associated with creativity, spirituality, and transformation. 

The Hummingbird

Native American culture shares hummingbirds are often seen as messengers of love and joy. Hummingbirds also hold a special place on the totem pole, representing energy and vitality. That’s exactly the vibe I wanted for my brand.

Standing Out
